ENROLLMENT IS OPEN!
Whether you're a new family, a longtime volunteer, or an experienced 4-H member, you'll find helpful tools and resources to support your 4-H journey. Select a category below to get started.
Before participating in a 4-H event that requires academic eligibility, youth must be enrolled in TX 4-H for the current 4-H year.
Texas 4-H follows the same “No Pass, No Play” requirements as other extracurricular activities. An Academic Eligibility Form is used to verify that a 4-H member is academically eligible to participate. These requirements are followed in accordance with the Texas Education Code, Texas Education Agency requirements, and local school district policies.
Yes. If academic eligibility is required for an event, the form is required even if the event takes place on a weekend, holiday, or outside of regular school hours. Eligibility is based on the youth's participation in the 4-H event, not whether they will miss school to attend. An event being held outside of the school day does not remove the academic eligibility requirement.
Families have two options:
Option 1: Let our office handle the school verification
Complete the parent/guardian portion of the form and submit it to the Denton County AgriLife Extension Office. Our office will contact the school to complete the eligibility verification.
Option 2: Have the school complete the form
Complete the parent/guardian portion, have the appropriate school representative complete and sign the school section, and then submit the completed form to our office.
Either option is perfectly fine—choose whichever is easiest for your family.
For youth who are homeschooled, the parent/guardian will complete both the Parent/Guardian section and the School section of the Academic Eligibility Form before submitting it to our office.
Completed Academic Eligibility Forms can be emailed to: deva.bruce@ag.tamu.edu
